Specific Goals:

• Advancing women and children’s rights and increase their capacity to understand and assert their rights;
• End violence and any form of oppression against women, girls & children;
• Provide women, girls & children with physical, mental and emotional tools with which they are enabled to defend themselves, bearing in mind that their “Security Is Their Responsibility”;
• Dispel attitudes that justify, play down or cover up violence against women, girls & children;
• Educate women and men, boys and girls, to non-violent and non-oppressive behavior.

Our Target Group:

Our classes serve ALL women and children from every class spectrum. We teach children, teen girls, adult women and elderly women (Grannies). Our clients are mostly impoverished, living in high-risk slum areas. Many of our teen girls cannot afford secondary school fees. Some volunteer in their community, some drift into prostitution to help support siblings, some are being raped in their homes in order to avoid being thrown into the street. The adult women are usually day laborers, mothers, and teachers. We also do outreach to commercial sex workers and have classes just for them. The grannies are frail, elderly women targeted for attack mainly by gangs. They are very poor, hungry and require special assistance and impetus to attend our classes.
